Once again, Bank Negara Malaysia will be organizing its Fourth Auction of Malaysian Banknotes with special serial numbers. This series of auction is by far the most successful auction event in Malaysia. The auction will be conducted by the Bank’s appointed auctioneer, MNP Auctioneers (Central) Sdn. Bhd. (MNP).

Date : 6th March 2016 (Sunday)
Venue : Auditorium, Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, Jalan Dato’ Onn, 50480 Kuala Lumpur
Registration : 8.30 a.m. onwards
Commencement : 10.30 a.m. onwards
The purpose of the auction is to provide equal opportunity to all members of the public to obtain these coveted banknotes with special serial numbers such as BB1111111 or AR10000000. These special serial number banknotes command premium in the collectors’ market. The auction will also serve one of the initiatives by BNM to promote interest and greater appreciation in numismatics amongst the general public. This fourth auction consists of only 66 lots of banknotes. As the lots are much lesser compared to the previous events, collectors and general public are encouraged to take this golden opportunity to own a piece of the highly sought-after Malaysian Banknotes with special serial numbers.
In particular, BNM will be auctioning copper commemorative coins in conjunction with the World Team Table Tennis Championships (WTTC) 2016 during the auction. The Bank is issuing large-sized copper commemorative coins for the first time for this event. The mintage quantity is 300 pieces but only 120 is for sale by public auction, therefore making it a highly limited collectible item.
