Real estate industry lost an icon today. RIP Sr. Michael Geh.

Real estate industry icon Michael Geh passed away today because of Covid-19. My last conversation with him was a video zoom at the end of April 2021. I will miss him tremendously.

He is someone I respected tremendously. He taught me that one must always have the right principles and not be swayed easily due to greed. He gave me a lot of advice, guidance every time we meet up for coffee. He also shared so many of his experience in the real estate industry with me and always encouraged me to do more, achieve more and aim higher. Thank you bro Mike for everything. May your soul rest in peace.

Miichael Yeoh was also saddened with this news. He said. “A person I respected so much has gone to heaven. You have never fail to support me and also always give me good advice. The last we met is on online on 22nd April where you were my guest of honor in my talk. I have known you for more than 20 years. This is a great loss to the property sector. I will remember you forever. A good hearted man.

Penang real estate expert Michael Geh dies of Covid-19

GEORGE TOWN: Prominent surveyor and real estate expert Michael Geh died this afternoon from complications arising from Covid-19. He was 57.

He leaves behind a wife, daughter and five siblings.

Geh died at the Penang Hospital at 1.45 pm, 10 days after he was admitted into intensive care after testing positive for Covid-19. A family member said he was intubated after his heart and kidneys weakened.

A surveyor with 25 years experience, Geh was a senior partner of Raine & Horne International Zaki + Partners, and had been active in the Malaysian and foreign property circuit. He was the immediate past president of the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) Malaysia and was awarded the FIREC designation in recognition of international real estate work and experience.

Geh had also actively weighed in on property issues on FMT, such as property overhang in the country and solutions in regards to 1Malaysia housing projects.

Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said he was saddened by the loss of Geh and said the latter had contributed immensely to the state.

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said Geh’s passing would leave a “big void” in the property industry, as he was often used as a measure of professionalism in the sector. “He is a ready, calm, presence in the industry. Without Michael, the property sector would be missing a very important figure. Covid-19 has taken away one of our best,” he said.

Geh is the son of former Penang Utara MP Geh Chong Keat, who served under MCA during Tunku Abdul Rahman’s premiership in 1959.https://c8bc3d116e6b06485a011287767d9665.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html
