Penang’s Gurney Wharf, definitely a WOW

A great news for Penang property investors I think. The Penang state government unveiled Penang’s new seafront public park to be named as Gurney Wharf. This is a wow news. Gurney Drive is a popular spot for Penangites and tourists and with this addition, it would become even more popular and definitely iconic. It will be created on land to be reclaimed by Tanjung Pinang Development Sdn Bhd (TPD), a subsidiary of Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O). There are four areas for the masterplan including a seaside retail food and beverage area, water gardens, a man-made beach and a coastal grove.
Total size of this seafront park is 131 acres and its currently in the stage of public feedback. It is on display at Level Two in Komtar as well as Gurney Mall Plaza. Assuming everything goes according to plan, the reclamation works would begin by end March. This is part of the STP2 reclamation. Seriously, a sandy beach so close to the UNESCO Heritage city is definitely a plus as tourists get more value for their money. Good news is that it’s not that far away. Phase One of the Gurney Wharf is expected to be ready by middle 2018.
gurney wharfTo those who are now thinking or rushing to buy somewhere nearby this Gurney Wharf, seriously, Penang real estate has much more to offer. There’s no need to concentrate on just this small part and ‘goring’ the price even more higher. Only buy this if sea-view plus two malls within walking distance is a must. To those who are now objecting as it will create even more jams, do note that the plan includes 1,500 car park bays as well. Hopefully this will help a little in alleviating effects from any potential jams. The best would definitely be regular bus services from Georgetown and all other areas instead. Enjoy my dear Penangites. Another plus point instead of always ‘cheaper.’ Read here: Penang: Visitors do not visit you because you are CHEAP I would definitely drop by and take lots of pictures to share with the world.
