Too many people got retrenched, reports were non-stop. Airlines are said to have grounded most of its planes and many will have to be asked to leave. Fortunately, there’s a silver lining for tourism even if people may not suddenly choose to travel again unless they really feel safe enough with regards to COVID-19 situation. Today, our new infections are below 10. Hopefully this continues.

The unemployment rate is going up here in Malaysia. It’sclose to 4% currently and may go higher. We receive way too many negative news about companies letting people go because they have to stop operating. Well, at least here we have one which is offering over 1,000 jobs yeah. It’s in a shop I used to frequent on a weekly basis. Mr. DIY. They are offering jobs for fresh grads to middle and even senior managers at its headquarters.

The issue with many Malaysians is that some jobs, they don’t like. Some jobs, they think not enough glamour. Some jobs, too hot under the sun. Well, the list goes on and of course there’s also that ‘salary not enough’ reasoning too. There are opportunities with all careers IF we are truly diligent in doing it. As for all the other reasons, well, here’s a Malay proverb for you. ‘Hendak seribu daya, tidak seribu dalih.’ In English it’s ‘When there’s a will, there’s a way.’ Happy applying.
