Perhaps I share my personal experience as someone who does grocery shopping on a weekly basis. Yes, I do grocery shopping together with my wife and I love it. Pricing wise, there are many more cheaper supermarket chains in the market when compared to Village Grocer. I am talking about overall basis. However, I always love to shop at supermarkets where there’s enough walking space, the food looks fresh and is arranged in a pleasant way and the workers seem to know what they are doing. I think these supermarket chains, especially those catering to slightly above the middle income family meant that their target market is smaller. However, it also meant that as long as they know their target market, they would also earn good profits. Besides, how many of us, the younger generation love to visit the wet market unless our parents requested us specifically? Haha. Yes, I put myself under the younger generation as well.
A good supermarket would also be able to anchor a mall well, especially the smaller ones. We need a place to have dinner or lunch and at the same time to complete our grocery shopping. Not many people going to two different places. For those with families, it’s definitely a one-stop decision. Yes, I guess now we know why malls always put good supermarket brands as their anchor tenant. It’s a necessity these days. Happy visiting Village Grocer.
