Travel Bubble Langkawi: 400,000 tourists expectation is really a wow.

How’s the actual situation, are the SOPs being followed very strictly, how are the prices and whether the all the shops are now open for tourists. Let’s look at some numbers which has been projected by the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA).

Article in malaymail.com The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) is expecting the arrival of about 400,000 tourists over a period of three and a half months starting from 16 September to 31 December 2021.

Its chief executive officer, Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib said with the arrival of this number of tourists, Langkawi was expected to receive about RM165 million from the money spent by these tourists.

He said, “Based on a study conducted by LADA and USM (Universiti Sains Malaysia), the average per day expenditure of a local tourist on the island is around RM412. The expenditure includes on accommodation, food, transportation and entrance tickets to the tourism centres in Langkawi.”

Nasaruddin also said that on the first day of Langkawi’s reopening to tourists, there would be five flights from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Selangor. Article in malaymail.com

Remember yeah, after Phuket’s sandbox experiment went well (there were still infection cases yeah), now Bangkok will be the next to be reopened to vaccinated tourists too. Bangkok Reopening for Tourists in October 2021.
