We have a few more good news, especially for all the areas covered by MRT Line 1. I meant these stations. First up is that the trial for Phase 1 of the Sungai Buloh and Kajang (SBK) will start in October 2016. Yes, that’s just slightly over 2 months more. Malaysia enters MRT era. According to Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) operations and asset management director Mahmood Abdul Razak, all 24 trains required for Phase One operation had been delivered to the Sungai Buloh MRT Depot. In fact, track works have been completed for both guideways and tunnels and the trial operations would be on 1 October 2016.
Second up is that there would be more car parks available than the current issues with many LRT stations. It announced that there would be multi-storey parking bays for 200 to 600 cars while open space parking can accommodate 100 cars at a time. The stations with the park and ride facilities are Sungai Buloh, Kwasa Damansara, Kwasa Sentral, Bandar Utama, Phileo Damansara, Pusat Bandar Damansara, Maluri, Taman Midah, Taman Suntex, Sri Raya, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Bukit Duking, Sungai Jernih and Kajang. It will have integration with Touch N Go as well. This is extremely important.
Third piece of news shows that everything is on track. The phase two Semantan Station and Kajang Station would be operational in July 2017. he shared that as at end May, the overall progress of the MRT SBK Line was at 86.25per cent. Rapid Rail will be the operator of Klang Valley MRT. It will be in charge of daily technical maintenance, customer service, fare collection and station facilities while MRT Corp remains as the asset owner.
Fourth good news is that there would be 300 feeder buses to provide first and last mile connectivity to the MRT network. We can’t be expecting everyone to drive. Of course, for first phase, 140 feeder buses will start. Well, let’tslook forward to the start end of 2016. I will be one of those who will try it out, hopefully within the first week itself. Haha. Yes, I stay pretty close to the MRT station in Sungai Buloh.
