I was pleasantly surprised when a close industry friend tagged me in Facebook about a ranking of the Top 8 Property Portals in Malaysia. It was a chart published by Ken Lim, the founder of Penangpropertytalk.com using Similarweb.com data as at end October 2015. Similarweb.com is a very popular choice for sites to benchmark themselves against their competitors. The list of the top 8 started with all the usual and familiar names in Malaysia including iproperty.com.my, propertyguru.com.my, theedgeproperty.com.my, propwall.my, penangpropertytalk.com, propsocial.my, starproperty.my and stopped at kopiandproperty.my WOW. Haha. Take a look at the image.
I started writing from the hospital bed on 28th November 2013. It was after my kidney stone operation. At first, the aim was just to write some property related stuffs. When traffic grew, I aimed at hitting the top 100 for property portals in Malaysia. Later, due to increasing traffic, a new target was set; a top 50 position by end of 2015. I think I may have to set a totally new target for end 2016. To be realistic, I think even maintaining this ranking is an achievement. So, hopefully I can double my visits or stay at this same position by end 2016.
