Latest. LRT3 mishap. 1 dead 4 injured.

We have a bad news in the construction of LRT3 which happened just this afternoon. The scaffolding at a construction site along Jalan Langat Lite Rail Transit (LRT) 3 track collapsed and 1 worker died while another 4 were injured.

Article in nst.com.my Incident happened at 215pm. 1 foreign worked died while four others were injured by falling debris when scaffolding at a construction site along the Jalan Langat Light Rail Transit (LRT) 3 track in Bandar Bukit Tinggi collapsed this afternoon. All the men were in their 30s and they are from Bangladesh and Indonesia.

Rescuers managed to pull out four workers from the rubble earlier and they sustained light injuries. Another trapped worker under the debris was confirmed dead by the police later. His body was recovered at 4:20pm. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Services director Norazam Khamis said he understood that the scaffolding around the structure gave way as the construction workers were pouring wet cement into one of the columns, which resulted in the collapse. Hopefully, we have no further reports of casualties and I think this is yet another one of those incidents where prevention measures could have been stronger. Truth is, this is not an incident caused by a natural disaster or some unforeseen circumstances. However, no one knows what really happened until full investigation has been conducted, completed and reported.

Let’s go towards zero incidence please. Prevention is always better than cure. Potential death(s) could be prevented too.
