Langkasuka Langkawi starting in 2Q 2022 (development lah, not opening)
I am looking forward to visiting Langkawi a few times per year in the near future. Just like how it was before Covid-19 arrived. I know, you want to say but there’s nothing much to do in Langkawi after visiting it one time! Haha. Noted. I have also visited Bali a few times and I can also say the same thing yeah. Plus the fact that the sand in Kuta Beach is also not pristine white in colour yeah. So yes, I intend to do nothing much if I am in Langkawi again. We have latest update about this Langkasuka project.
Article in edgeprop.my First phase of Langkasuka will be developed over 4 years with an estimated gross development value of RM4.5 billion. The first phase will include an international standard and tournament-ready golf course by the sea, lush villas and resort homes, a shopping utopia going by Designers’ Brand Mall, a shopping bazaar known as The Langkasuka Village, a 5-star hotel and luxurious condominiums.
It is jointly developed by Widad Business Group Sdn Bhd (WBG), construction and integrated facilities management companies, and Bin Zayed International LLC (BZI), a leading conglomerate with diverse business interests in the international markets.
BZI is a leading conglomerate owned by Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the senior member of the Abu Dhabi royal family. It is a Dubai-based conglomerate that specialises in construction and energy, trading and industry, real estate, technology and financial services. The company was first established in 1988. Connectivity must be improved; flights yeah, not boats alone
If we like Langkawi to attract the tourists who could spend more and stay in all these more luxurious developments and even existing hotels, it will be essential to ensure there are flight connectivity between Langkawi International airport and the world outside. Else, we can continue to build more but it’s impact would not be maximised without the support of foreign tourists.
Golf Courses? Do we have flights to Langkawi from Japan? Pristine white sandy beaches? Do we have flights from countries without a proper white sandy beach? For example, the country with a man-made beach? As per google, 800,000 Australians travel to Thailand yearly. Could we get 20% of these to visit Langkawi instead? If just 10,000 comes every month, that’s a minimum need for 5,000 rooms! All the best to attract more via flights. Of course, boats should continue.
