Covid-19 update. Rising Infectivity Rate and Vaccinations for 5-12 coming soon.

What is Infectivity Rate?

Infectivity Rate means how fast the Covid-19 infection is growing. A number below 1 means it’s slowing down and the recovery is faster than new cases. A number above 1 means it’s spreading very fast and the number will rise every day. While the current number is still below 1 BUT it has been rising everyday and this is something we need to be worried about. I do feel that people are more relaxed but get our facts right, Covid-19 Delta variant is still around…

When will the 5-12 year olds be vaccinated?

I am still worried for my daughter and son, both are below 12 years old as both of them are unvaccinated. Furthermore, they will go back to school and nursery soon and my son will start primary school next year. There is a good news. It has been announced that children aged 5-12 will be vaccinated. There is no timelines yet but if we look at the 12-17 which is now at 80% or higher, it meant that the 5-12 vaccinations should be starting very soon.

Article in freemalaysiatoday.com Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin today affirmed that Putrajaya will go ahead with its procurement of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for children aged five to 12.

This comes after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) endorsed the vaccine for children two days ago.

He said, “With the FDA panel recommending Pfizer jabs for five to 12-year-olds, Malaysia will go forward with our procurement of Pfizer for kids. We will also look at other options like Sinovac.”

Recently, a medical panel of US government advisers endorsed the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine for those aged five to 11, paving the way for younger children to get their shots. The FDA, which convened the meeting, is expected to give its formal green light soon. Please do read the full article here: Article in freemalaysiatoday.com

Wear Masks please

In the means time, stay alert and always be careful. Many countries which showed good progress have started to see a higher number of infections recently. Fortunately, we are required to wear masks here. That’s at least another extra layer of protection.
