Covid-19 infection numbers. More tests, higher numbers for now.

A good friend said that we are doomed. Look at the number of cases. I told her that the tests for Covid-19 has been increasing a lot as well. She does not really want to listen. Continued to share her views and concerns. So, I stopped explaining. No point right. I have been sharing this for a few days but I think it’s best to just quote the actual news announcement by Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Article in thestar.com.my KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Health Ministry (MOH) expects the country’s daily Covid-19 cases to stabilise and show a decline in the next one to two weeks’ time, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said, “The MOH had expected that with the lockdown in the Klang Valley areas, the daily cases will increase due to the implementation of the targeted and community screenings.

“However, I am confident that with better movement control methods, we will see a more stable total number of cases as well as a drop within a week or two. At the same time, the vaccination process must be expedited.”

There are five categories of the Covid-19 disease. Category One – asymptomatic; Category Two – mild disease; Category Three – moderate disease (pneumonia, not requiring oxygen); Category Four – severe disease (pneumonia and requiring oxygen); and Category Five – critical disease (multiple organ impairment, possibly requiring assisted ventilation). Faith is needed and we are definitely on the right track with MORE TESTS versus not testing

Vaccinations per 100 wise, we will be ahead of an advanced nation where the cases are low within a few days’ time. Nope, I am no longer comparing us to our neighbours whom I am hoping they could also quickly ramp up their vaccinations.

By the way, if you read the most recent article: Infections vs Hospitalisations and Death then you would realise that moving forward, the focus will be on vaccinations, hospitalisations and death. UK has showed that even if infections can be increasing, the hospitalisations do not follow the same trend and the death numbers would also slow down tremendously.

Just note that for this to happen, we probably need something like 50% vaccinations first. Stay focused on what matters and start understanding what would really happen in the future once vaccinations reach a critical number. i would say it’s 50% of population.
