Revenge Travel? Here’s one more for fully vaccinated travellers.
It’s not been an easy time for those who were used to travelling frequently. Covid-19 meant staying at home, travelling around the kitchen and the living room and even limited places to visit for months after months.
Thus, there are news saying that enquiries for Langkawi island has been increasing ever since it was announced that Langkawi will accept vaccinated Malaysians from any state in Malaysia. here’s the details: Activities in Langkawi beginning 16th September
Now we have an even bigger news. This one is from Bangkok, Thailand. Instead of just the island of Phuket, now vaccinated travellers could travel to Bangkok starting in October 2021. By the way, Bangkok receives typically over 20 million tourists every year. (Source here) Imagine the number of rooms needed. Now imagine what has happened ever since Covid-19 arrived.
No worries, Bangkok is seeking to reopen soon. Revenge Travel may have a chance to start in Bangkok.
Article in straitstimes.com Tourism makes up a fifth of Thailand’s nation income in 2019. However, Covid-19 has meant that the number of foreign visitors drop to almost nothing. Bangkok will now be reopened to fully vaccinated tourists in October. This will help salvage the tourism industry which has been badly affected by the pandemic.
It will make plans to reopen despite a deadly third wave of infections driven by the Delta variant. Fully vaccinated foreign travellers can visit Bangkok and four other provinces (Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan) without undergoing the two weeks’ hotel quarantine. Revenge travel is quite real
While things will normalise after a few months but that first few months that people are allowed to travel, every vacation spot will be full. The reason is because of pent-up demand from people who has not been able to travel like forever. Anyway, if Bangkok could capture 1 million of tourist within October for example, that would be really amazing for the economy of Thailand.
At the same time, just hope everything will be under control. Bangkok will now be that new model case study for ASEAN moving forward. Revenge travel? Keeping fingers crossed.
