Sunway’s RM4 billion property development in Perak. (WOW!)

I was speaking to some real estate friends last week and one of them said that Ipoh’s property market will soon be very vibrant because there are going to be direct flights from Guangzhou to Ipoh. Here’s that earlier article in thestar.com.my Perhaps these additional flights will help to bring more tourists into Ipoh directly but the property market needs more than that. A real catalyst would be a new airport. Definitely not the current one where airlines have to do assessment whether their type of planes could fly in or not. Alternatively, more attractions in Ipoh for people to visit and perhaps stay a couple of days. This will help the accommodation scene too. Here’s one developer which has been around for some time and I think they will be in Ipoh for the next 15-20 years. Sunway Property said that it will be investing RM4 billion into Ipoh!

Okay, it’s not RM4 billion of gross development value (GDV) within 2019. Not realistic too yeah. Sunway Property says that it will be investing RM4 billion in Perak within the next 15-20 years. This will be for the development of Sunway City Ipoh. It’s Senior General Manager Wong Wan Wooi shared that currently Sunway City Ipoh has 1,400 residential units, Sunway College Ipoh, a hotel of 174 rooms as well as two world class resorts; Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat dan The Lost World of Tambun. He said, “We have already completed 70 percent of the development within Sunway City Ipoh which has a land area of 545 hectare with an investment of RM700 million currently.” Article in kosmo.com.my here.

Other projects in planning including the construction of Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh, the expansion of Sunway College, a residential with hot water pool facility, shopping mall and hill developments. The latest development is Sunway Onsen Suite. It consists of three residential towers with a gross development value of RM400 million. The first tower in the development includes 252 studio units, 2-bedroom and 3 bedroom units with sizes ranging from 592 sq ft to 1,184 sq ft. The starting price is RM391,000. In fact, Sunway will be adding to the attractiveness of The Lost World of Tambun with new water slides as well as multi-level swimming pool. Do refer to Article in kosmo.com.my here.
