Staying in a police station and paying RM59,430 per night?

I am not sure about you but I would not want to stay overnight in the police station. I think the closest I ever got to do that was enjoying a dinner in a Prison-themed restaurant in Penang. I believe it has since closed down. This must be just me because in the Great Scotland Yard, London’s first police station would be undergoing a £50 million refurbishment. It will be turned into a seven-storey ultra-luxurious hotel. The rooms would set you back a whopping £10,000 (RM59,430) a night. If there are NO demand, how could the price be so high? It’s really funny to pay so much to get ‘arrested’ for a night. Haha.
scotlandyardWell, according to the developer, for the refurbishment, they’ll preserve the building’s Edwardian Imperial red brick and stone facade as well as its name, The Great Scotland Yard. This is definitely needed, or else the hotel would just be another typical hotel and definitely cannot fetch such a premium for one nights stay. The decor inside would be “contemporary and stylish”. As with many of the special or iconic developments, it would have some foreign components. This project is a collaboration between Abu Dhabi-based property conglomerate Lulu Group International and London develop Galliard Homes. If we start saving money today, perhaps we can afford the flight and a stay in the hotel when it opens in early 2017.
I am not sure how many Malaysians would know about Jack the Ripper but it is within this police station that police officers tried to solve the grisly murders committed. Oh yeah, Jack the Ripper was never captured and the case remain unsolved. This is also the police station which was immortalised by authors such as Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who wrote Sherlock Holmes. So I think where history is concerned, this police station turned hotel is really rich. No wonder then that it’s rooms are only for the super-rich. 🙂   Yeah, happy staying and if you are there, kindly take photos and post in your Facebook yeah.
