RTS Link. (RTS JB – SG). RM1 billion awarded via 9 contracts.

RTS Link. Progress is positive. RTS JB – SG’s operator announced that it has awarded nine contracts worth a total of approximately RM1 billion. This is one of those catalysts which are needed for both sides. To the ones who says that only one side benefits from this, why not give the Singapore government more benefit of doubt? I seriously doubt they would enter into any agreement which will not be positive for the country. Agree with me? Does not matter, please do read on for the latest announcements.

Details about RTS Link project (from MYMRT.com.my)

The RTS Link Project is a railway shuttle link approximately 4km length with two stations, one in Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru, Malaysia and one in Woodlands, Singapore. This link will be integrated with public transport systems at both stations and this will help to alleviate the congestion at immigration checkpoints for both countries. This link will have a capacity of 10,000 passengers per hour, per direction and an expected ridership of about 40,000 passengers per day upon opening.

Journey Time is 6 minutes. Get it?

Working in Singapore and staying in JB is a very tiring matter, daily. Wake up very early in the morning, before everyone else. 6am is too late and the person will most likely be late due to the jams. This is why so many are staying in Singapore and this is also the reason why many are willing to pay S$600 (RM1,858) for a small room in Singapore.

Now imagine a stable journey which takes just 6 minutes. Even if we include another 10 minutes to get to the station in JB and another 10 minutes within Singapore to reach the office, that’s still less than 30 minutes. Happy understanding all the potential yeah.
