Press Release: IOI Properties Group Lauds Women’s Achievements For International Women’s Day Celebration

This year’s International Women’s Day was all about celebrating the inspiring women of IOI  Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG). In adopting the global theme of #ChooseToChallenge,  IOIPG chose to engage with its staff and public to spark conversations on embracing diversity,  equality and inclusion.

As a people-centric organisation in the property industry, people and culture form the backbone of  IOIPG. IOIPG’s success lies in its people, the champions of value creation, who are nurtured and  supported to achieve their aspirations through collaboration and teamwork. IOIPG will continue to provide a level playing field and equal opportunities to all its staff to perform at their best  regardless of gender.

Therefore, IOIPG organised a series of activities to commemorate International Women’s Day and  this culminated with a webinar focused on the topic of “Diversity, Equality and Inclusion at the  Workplace”. The group-wide activities encouraged collective action and shared responsibility for  driving diversity and inclusion at the workplace and in the community. These activities in  celebration of International Women’s Day kicked off in February with #ChooseToChallenge  Photo Contest and #InspiringWomen Facebook Profile Photo Frame Giveaway. A series of  encouraging words by IOIPG staff was published on social media to inspire women to achieve  their dreams with confidence.

Although the property industry is often perceived as male-dominated, it has seen many women  who are high achievers, result-oriented and committed, stamping their mark by actively  participating and contributing towards business growth in the industry.

IOIPG Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Voon Tin Yow said, “IOIPG believes in equality, fair play  and mutual respect, and embraces diversity, inclusiveness and transparency.”

“We want to create an ecosystem that empowers our people to be the best that they can be, enables  creativity and innovation, encourages collaboration and teamwork, and builds trust across all  stakeholders that leads to our vision, TRUSTED.,” he added

Women make up more than 30% of IOIPG’s senior management positions. Women take on more  leadership roles and functions across different business segments within IOIPG and Dato’ Voon  expects women representation in senior management to continue increasing over time.

“I strongly believe that women are capable of performing better than their male counterparts in  almost any field of work or profession. All they need is level playing field and equal opportunity,  and with a little encouragement, they will surely go a long way,” he explained.

The webinar, organised in collaboration with LeadWomen Sdn Bhd, attracted an encouraging  participation of more than 300 IOIPG staff from Malaysia, Singapore and China across various  operations and business units within the organisation.

Moderated by LeadWomen Co-Founder and Chair, Anne Abraham, the webinar featured  interactive sessions with the participants and a panel discussion comprising a group of  distinguished speakers including IOIPG Executive Director Lee Yoke Har, PI Architect Founder  Ar. Datuk Tan Pei Ing, Independent Director and Coach Datin Nancy Sim and Dutch Lady Milk  Industries Berhad Managing Director Tarang Gupta.
