Mitsui Outlet Park to be biggest outlet mall within South East Asia

My sister-in-law bought 3 dresses in the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA just 2 weeks ago. She said, ‘It’s so cheap…’ The brand was her favourite; MNG. How cheap is cheap? Well, RM89 for 3 dresses is definitely cheap right? My wife tried the sizes too but somehow none fit nicely, so she did not get any. If I happen to be at KLIA / KLIA 2 and has time to spare, I would love to drop by and this is what’s happening today. There are always sufficient shoppers there that during meal times, it’s always a queue.
img20160828162118.jpgWhat if Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA will become BIGGER? Yes, significantly bigger so that it will become South-East Asia’s biggest outlet mall by 2021 with the phase two expansion now underway. Once the second phase is completed in 2018, it will have 190 shops, up from 130 shops at present. According to Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) chairman Tan Sri Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah, “Phase two will introduce more premium brands with increased offerings of luxury international and local brands in fashion, cosmetics, sports and accessories with the diversification into entertainment and amusement, as well as inclusion of service-based tenants.” Full article in Starbiz here.
While I think the current setup is already comfortable, the phase two would introduce the Sky Walk and River Walk themes. Sky Walk will have the ceiulings simulated with clouds while the River Walk resembles a creek. This will surely enhance the shopping experience. Another 500 car parks would be added to the existing 2,100 car parks to cater for this expansion. As per the current KLIA Aeropolis Masterplan, the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA is an important part to help transforming the KLIA into a diversified airport city providing significant business, tourism and employment opportunities with offerings that include cargo and logistics hub, shopping and theme park, as well as world-class venues for meetings, conventions and exhibitions.
I personally would rate the Johor Premium Outlet higher at this moment but I think their markets are totally different since they are many hours away from one another. In fact, many would welcome these new shopping outlets as it continues to help Malaysia become a shopping haven within this part of the world. Yes, ringgit’s value helped tremendously too. So, would you be thinking of buying a property nearby? Well, perhaps not due to this Mitsui KLIA outlet alone but if there are more ongoing developments for Aeropolis….? Let’s keep following.
