Ipoh’s integrated edu-city project in Bandar Meru Raya

Ipoh is definitely not a sleepy city as mentioned by many. In fact, even Ipoh’s airport is becoming alive with flights from even out of Malaysia today. Read here: Ipoh flights to Subang, Johor Bahru, Medan and potentially Langkawi and Krabi  Another new development is coming up in Ipoh. Many years ago, when people mention Bandar Meru Raya, it is considered a secondary area. This is continuously changing. Besides the many developments, there will be a new RM1.1 billion integrated edu-city in Bandar Meru Raya.
It will be undertaken by Green Venture Capital (GVC), a subsidiary of Wawasan Qi Properties Group and China Energy Hua Ren Industrial Investment Co Ltd (CEHR). The project called Qi City Development Project is expected to start construction by the first quarter of 2016 and expected to be completed in three years. The development comprises a teaching hospital with public and private wings, Quest International University Perak (Qiup) campus, three condominium blocks, a medical rehabilitation centre and hotel suites. According to GVC executive chairman Datuk Seri Vijay Eswaran, this will create the first education and medical hub in the country.
Quest International University Perak started in 2008 and has a few faculties which includes Faculty of Medicine. I think if students are really serious in studying, Ipoh presents a very good, clean and safe environment. It is also in the middle of Penang and KL and connected by expressway, trains and even airports. As for the condominium blocks, I think it depends on how successful the hospital and medical rehabilitation centre is. As at today, Penang has the lion share of overseas patients and is already very congested. Ipoh may provide a good alternative, cheaper too. I await the completion of this development. Happy thinking about Ipoh.
