When I was out for lunch the other day with a group of friends, we passed by Tun Razak Exchange site. One mentioned that this project may fail as 1MDB is going bankrupt. I did not bother to reply. Everyone is entitled to say whatever they wanted to say based on whatever they read or hear. I only do what I am supposed to do. Well, if 1MDB goes bankrupt, surely the Bandar Malaysia project would also fail? Then, the following was reported in a local English daily.
CH Williams Talhar and Wong (WTW) announced recently that the call for expression of interest (EOI) for Bandar Malaysia development has received interest from 40 parties. It includes a few consortiums and these parties include government linked companies (GLCs), top Malaysian developers, world class property brands and foreign state investment corporations. The foreign ones came from Singapore, China, Japan, Korea and Australia. The total size of the project is 196.67 hectare and it is situated on the site of the old Sungai Besi airport.
Bandar Malaysia will be the central transport hub for the high speed rail (HSR) KL – Singapore as well as MRT Lines 2 and 3, KTM Commuter and Express Rail Link (ERL). Future major highway networks would also be running through it as well. The whole development is envisioned to be a mixed-use urban development serving as an impetus of change for Greater Kuala Lumpur. The site is only 7 kilometres away from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC).
As long as whatever planned goes ahead, Bandar Malaysia is sure to have lots of interest. This will happen because the companies which are interested have little interest in the political drama. Yes, I am very sure everyone wanted to say that all these companies, including the foreign ones were ‘forced’ to take part, somehow. Well, my opinion is, they are interested because of the potential profits from the project. Note: 196.67 hectares is equivalent to 486 acres. Go and check out how much gross development value can happen from 486 acres. 🙂 There is no need to debate. I have no shares in the development anyway. However, I would also like to say that I personally have interest with the development too. Happy believing.
