Setia City Mall, a mall I like, more than Paradigm Mall.

Last month, i went to Setia City Mall in Shah Alam. Was there for over half a day, finishing with dinner. I told my wife then, this mall is better than Paradigm Mall, which was right next to our condo in Kelana Jaya. She agreed. In fact, even the toilets in terms of cleanliness and design is better in Setia City Mall when compared to Paradigm Mall. The overall layout is also friendlier somehow. I do not know the size but I think both are almost equal in size. The two things which I prefer more for Paradigm would be the distance (even if I walk, it’s just 5 minutes) and also it has Tesco which my wife frequents often. Yes, Setia Mall has a supermarket too but I think majority would say Tesco is cheaper.

setia city mallThus, when I read about them winning a world award, I must write about them. Yes, Setia City Mall, Malaysia’s first eco-friendly shopping centre won GOLD AWARD under the retail category at the world level 2014 FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Awards in Luxemburg. Some additional information about Setia City Mall includes over 740,000 sq ft of net lettable space and its a four storey mall. The mall It is situated in Setia Alam township by SP Setia. This was not the only award for it. It has also won the Malaysian Green Building Index Silver Award as well as the first shopping centre in Malaysia to win the Singapore Building & Construction Authority Green Mark Gold Award. It was also the winner for The Edge-PAM Green Excellence Award and the Fiabci Malaysia Property Award (retail category) in 2013.

There, now you know if you stay in Shah Alam, you have a world class mall, even if it is not those regional sized ones just at your backyard. Actually, even if you stay in Shah Alam, there’s nothing to stop you from dropping by during one of these weekends. Yes, you can even have your picnic there too and running around with your kids or better still fly your kites there. Quality family time. I think this is something the award may have missed. The environment outside the mall. It has lots of greenery and huge space just for you to laze around. The only downside is that since it is Malaysia, don’t do it when the hot sun is shining. I think my next trip there would be soon and this time, will tell my wife about this pleasant piece of news. When I move to Damansara Damai, it will be harder for me to visit it in future. Just a little too far.
