DATO’ AZMIR MERICAN APPOINTED GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR OF SIME DARBY PROPERTY
ARA DAMANSARA, 28 JANUARY 2020 – Sime Darby Property Berhad today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Dato’ Azmir Merican Azmi Merican as the Group Managing Director effective April 22, 2020.
Dato’ Azmir brings a wealth of experience from his background in financial advisory and as a senior business leader. He is currently the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Edgenta Berhad, one of the largest asset management and infrastructure solutions companies in Asia with operations in six countries.
Dato’ Azmir started his career as an investment analyst and later as a manager in the financial & corporate advisory arm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He subsequently worked with CIMB Investment Bank and thereafter, joined AWC Berhad as its Group Chief Executive/Managing Director.
In 2012, Dato’ Azmir joined the UEM Group as the Group Chief Operating Officer, Business Units, before taking the helm at UEM Edgenta. At UEM Edgenta, Dato’ Azmir led its ongoing transformation into a technology-based company servicing the healthcare, property and infrastructure sectors.

Dato’ Wan Hashimi Albakri will continue in his current role as Acting Group Chief Executive Officer until Dato’ Azmir’s effective appointment date. Subsequently, Dato’ Wan will resume the role of Chief Operating Officer, Township Development.
