Tallest Sea view condo in Penang? Probably.

We love ever taller homes so that we have the bragging rights that I live higher than you. I can see further if I stay higher. I can see more! Haha. Anyway, the tallest I have ever bought is just 10th floor. I currently stay in one on the 1st floor. So, obviously height does not attract me. However, one project caught my attention. I was browsing through penangpropertytalk.com when I saw a 61-storey luxury condominium project. It’s part of a 5-acre development called Runnymede Bay. No further details were available but 61-storey should be the highest that I have seen in Penang. Another one which is going to be majestically tall is SP Setia’s V Residences at 48 floors in Gurney Drive.
runnymedeIs this heralding the start of the race to build ever higher? For those who have negative thoughts about these tall buildings in an island, there’s no truth to whatever worry that islands cannot sustain tall buildings. I googled but found nothing significant. More importantly would be whether the developer has such expertise as the taller the building, the stronger the foundation has to be. Why build taller? Land space limitation. I have seen many condominium projects with 10-storey car park. Actually, it’s okay because these would normally have two entrances, each going up only half of the car park. Imagine if just one entrance and your car park is on the level 10! Haha.
I think for the wealthier ones who are reading this, it’s time you register. It’s considered a low density project with just 373 units. In KL, the number of units can now be easily over 1,200 units per development or even higher in some popular areas. The highest floors of this new 61-storey project in Penang would allow you to take a photo and post in your Facebook that you are “above all the rest” in Penang. For those who prefer to just get a nice condo to stay, the choices remain aplenty and this luxury condominium is definitely not your usual affordable choice. Happy waiting to buy.
