A friend showed me his future Kajang home which was bought for his retirement. He said his wife and him would be walking in the park within the development. I added, ‘how about hand-in-hand under the stars?’ He just laughed. Anyway, it piqued my interest to take a look at Kajang which has never been a choice because I felt it is just, far. I did not even have any friends staying in Kajang. Yes, somehow I look at this as further away than my current place in Damansara Damai. So much so that I was willing to pay almost the same amount for a condo instead of a landed in Kajang! Some of the available LANDED terraces between RM500,000 – RM600,000? Refer to the image for some of the the some latest property listings in iproperty.com.my
A check online with Googlemap showed that Kajang is approximately between 28 – 36km away from KL city centre, depending on which Kajang project you are buying. Of course, the newer ones would be closer to even areas like Semenyih. In terms of distance, not too far away, really! Without jams, it will take lesser than 40 minutes to be in the city centre. Of course, the only issue would be the jams in the morning. To reach the city centre, one has to pass through areas such as Seri Kembangan or Cheras which meant that to really escape the jams successfully, arriving in the city centre before 7am might be best.
Another check with propsocial.my gives additional overall information about Kajang. Take a look at the image. With the upcoming Bandar Kajang MRT, an alternative may be available and the duration for travel may now be shortened tremendously. The stress level too. Yes, we must also decide based on the affordability factor versus the landed attractiveness. My friend, the one who’s moving to Kajang is currently staying in a PJ hotspot and he said that his current home which is smaller than the Kajang project is at least a few hundred thousand ringgit more expensive. I think for him, it makes a very good investment sense. When the time comes, just sell his current home for a huge profit and move to Kajang. Take the MRT and have it easy.
So, if landed is your cup of tea, do note that Kajang would soon have three MRTs. There’s no need to ask me. I am happy where I am and I think I may have to wait for my property to appreciate a few hundred thousand ringgit before I can consider moving to somewhere bigger and further away, again. I did move from Kelana Jaya which was 16km away from my office to current 22km away. No guarantee where I would be moving next. Only profits would tell. Haha. Happy investing and enjoying your next property.
