If you know the history of white coffee, you would realise that there were no penang white coffee, melaka white coffee or even petaling street white coffee and definitely no nescafe white coffee. To me white coffee originated from ipoh and the best white coffee will always be Ipoh. Whatever taste you may come up with, if it is too different from the original then you are no good.
Imagine someone in JB simply fry a different type of char koay teow and said this is original penang char koay teow. Even if it tastes good but it is very different taste from the typical penang char koay teow, are you going to now recognise it as a different variety of penang char koay teow?
There has been many complaints the old town franchises have a huge quality difference between branches. I agree. However, I would always encourage you to drop by and.drink the real ipoh white coffee. Alternatively lots of other great choices of white coffee in Ipoh. White coffee? Not in Penang please.
